Dear Dr. Piazza,
My best wishes to you and your family and friends for a very
prosperous and blessed New Year.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, youth and staff of Covenant
House California, I would like to sincerely thank you for your
generous donation. It means a great deal to the many kids who
are given a chance and the hope that their lives could be better.
In 2003, we were able to do so much for homeless and at-risk
youth whom we found living on the streets or in unsafe places.
· Our Hollywood and Oakland Van Outreach staffs, traveling
on the streets, assisted an increased number of youth who were
homeless and in need of our clothing.
· Our Community Service Centers offered our youth opportunities
to develop the skills to find employment and become independent.
· Our Hollywood transitional living programs provided
youth the experience and satisfaction of working or going to
school, as well as the last step to independent living.
· A new but temporary Crisis Shelter in Oakland helped
82 homeless youth living on the street. We hope to eventually
open a permanent shelter program when it is possible.
I am truly grateful for your continued support for making it
possible for us to help kids in need. May God continue to bless
you.
Sincerely,
George R. Lozano
Executive Director
Dear Dr. Piazza:
Thank you so much for your generous gift, which we will
use to provide hope to a homeless child tonight.
Friends like you made it possible for us to help over 76,000
homeless and runaway kids last year. 76,000! An additional
51,000 children called our Nineline Crisis Hotline (1-800-999-9999)
for immediate help they could find no place else.
Because of friends like you, we are able to be here 24 hours
a day, seven days a week to provide the love, dignity and respect
that all children deserve. God bless you for helping us provide
the practical, life saving gifts of food, clothing and shelter
for these desperate children. And God bless you for giving
us a chance to provide the priceless gift of hope.
My prayers are with you and your loved ones for a New Year
filled with peace, health and happiness. Please keep our kids
in your thoughts and prayers.
Gratefully,
Sister Patricia A. Cruise, SC
President
